The Underbelly of an RC Airliner - Landing Gear

In these renderings, which I recently shared on Instagram (rc.cad2vr), I am showing a more detailed view of the L-1011 RC Airliner I’m working on. Landing gear is obviously a very critical part of this design and these renderings show how it all fits together.

Designing the bays which will house the landing gear comes with its own challenges. It’s especially challenging when the wing are removable. In CAD the wing box and wings reside in their own files. Each file contains a complete assembly as it will be in the actual model. There are three body assemblies: nose, wingbox/center fuselage, and tail. Also included are the 2 wing assemblies which are in a single file for mirroring and symmetry reason.

Here I focus on just the gear and how they relates to the overall design of the underside of the model.
